Mexico City is gearing up for a grand Mother's Day celebration with multiple events including a concert by Lupita D'Alessio on May 10 at the Zócalo. Families are invited to participate in various activities throughout the city over the weekend.

In Mexico City, a grand celebration for Mother's Day will take place, featuring an extensive lineup of activities to celebrate. One of the highlighted events will be a free concert by Lupita D'Alessio, scheduled for Saturday, May 10 at 7 PM in the capital's Zócalo. The concert, part of the artist's "Gracias" tour in commemoration of her 50 years of artistic career, promises to be a tribute to all Mexican women.

Ana Francis Mor, the local culture secretary, also extended the invitation to mothers and their families to attend the special Mother's Day concert of the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra, which will be held on Sunday, May 11 at the Silvestre Revueltas Hall of the Ollin Yoliztli Cultural Center. Furthermore, it was mentioned that Lupita D'Alessio's concert, known as the "Sleeping Lion," will be broadcast live on Capital 21 and Channel 14.

Lupita D'Alessio, born on March 10, 1954, as Guadalupe Contreras Ramos, achieved musical recognition by winning the OTI Song Festival in 1978 with her interpretation of "Como tú." Throughout her career, she has participated in telenovelas and has been recognized internationally. The Culture Secretary highlighted the importance of Lupita D'Alessio's voice for the women of her time and the liberating influence of her performances.

Other activities included in this celebration are the concert "Yonati.Mi Paloma" by Victoria Hanna at the Esperanza Iris City Theater, as well as the presentation of "Matria" at the San Fernando Pantheon Museum, which aims to highlight the stories of iconic women from 19th century Mexico who embraced motherhood. Additionally, the photographic exhibition "Urban Midwives: Between Heritage and Coloniality" will be enjoyed at the Open Galleries of the Botanical Garden of Chapultepec Park, in honor of the work of women helping others give birth with dignity.
